Meta’s primary platforms—Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp—have gone down, leaving users unable to access their accounts or post content.
Social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), have been flooded with reports of the outage. Users have turned to X to confirm the widespread disruption and share their frustrations. Downdetector, a service that monitors platform outages, has also corroborated the issue, recording massive spikes in complaints across Meta’s applications.
According to Downdetector, Instagram logged over 71,000 problem reports, while Facebook received more than 107,000 outage notifications worldwide. On Facebook, affected users were greeted with an apology message that read, “We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”
Reacting to the outage, Meta confirmed the issue in a post on X, stating, “We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.”
Instagram also addressed the situation on X, using the hashtag #instagramdown: “Hi, we know there’s a technical issue impacting some people’s ability to access Instagram. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and are sorry for any inconvenience.”
WhatsApp followed with its own update, assuring users, “We’re aware of some issues accessing WhatsApp. We’re actively working on a solution and starting to see a return to normal for most people. We expect things to be back to normal shortly.”
