Rapper Jay-Z is facing allegations after being named in a lawsuit alleging the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in 2000, alongside music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The complainant, identified as Jane Doe, claims the alleged incidents took place during an afterparty following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
The lawsuit, initially filed in October against Diddy, was amended on Sunday to include Jay-Z as a defendant. The woman alleges she consumed a drink at the party that left her disoriented and later found herself in a bedroom, where she accuses Jay-Z of assaulting her first, followed by Diddy. According to her account, she managed to strike Diddy and flee the room.
Sean Combs, who has been facing a wave of legal actions, has denied all allegations of misconduct. Over 30 civil lawsuits have been filed against him, accusing him of crimes ranging from sexual assault to racketeering conspiracy. He has pleaded not guilty and maintains his innocence.
Tony Buzbee, a prominent Houston-based attorney, rejected accusations of extortion. “This is a very serious matter. The pleading speaks for itself,” Buzbee said, promising to litigate the case in court.
The amended lawsuit accuses Jay-Z of orchestrating a campaign of harassment, intimidation, and bullying against Jane Doe’s legal team to deter her from pursuing her case.
In a post on Instagram, Buzbee noted that his client had never sought financial compensation, only a confidential mediation, and praised her courage. “She is emboldened. I’m very proud of her resolve,” he wrote.
