The Kaduna State Police Command has made breakthroughs in its fight against kidnapping, arresting five suspected kidnappers, a notorious car snatcher, and a spiritualist.
According to ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, the suspects were apprehended during various operations.
In Kundun Village, three suspected kidnappers – Umar Haruna, Shuaibu Umar, and Hairatu Muntari (aka Talatu) – were arrested. Haruna was the primary target, while the suspected gang leader remains at large.
Investigations revealed that ransom money from previous kidnappings was used to purchase bags of maize, which were recovered as exhibits.
In another incident, a 3-year-old girl from Agaji village was kidnapped, and a ransom of N2 million was demanded. After payment, the child was released. Detectives from the Saminaka Division launched an investigation, tracking and apprehending the suspect, Isa Sa’adu, on November 8.
During interrogation, Sa’adu confessed to the kidnapping.
Exhibits recovered include a Gionee mobile phone, N400,000, a Boxer motorcycle, a bicycle, and a bag of rice.
ASP Hassan stated, “Upon receiving the report, detectives immediately launched an investigation… Through diligent tracking and intelligence gathering, the officers apprehended the suspect.”
