The Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has confirmed that the recent floods and windstorms in Kano State have resulted in 49 deaths, 226 communities affected across 27 Local Government Areas, 6,583 houses destroyed, affecting 38,814 people, 8,289 farmlands destroyed, equivalent to 36,265 hectares, 1,414 people displaced, 139 people injured
The affected areas include Tudun Wada, Gwale, Wudil, Danbatta, Ajingi, Dala, Gwarzo, Madobi, Bichi, Kano Municipal, Karaye, Tarauni, Minjibir, Bebeji, Rogo, Shanono, Kabo, Garin Malam, Ungogo, Kumbotso, Nasarawa, Kura, Dawakin Kudu, Dawakin Tofa, Gezawa, Rogo, Bagwai
SEMA has responded promptly by visiting affected areas to sympathize with victims, distributing relief materials to alleviate suffering, organizing workshops to provide solutions for preventing environmental hazards, and collaborating with stakeholders to provide support
