The kidnappers of four children, including a two-year-old toddler, have reduced their initial ransom demand from ₦300 million to ₦25 million. The children, taken from their home in Keke A, Chikun Local Government Area, remain in captivity as their father, Adamu Yunusa, struggles to meet the demands of their abductors.
On Tuesday night while Yunusa was visiting his wife at a hospital where she was caring for their ailing twins, the kidnappers stormed their home and seized the four children.
Following the abduction, the kidnappers contacted Yunusa with a demand of ₦300 million, threatening to harm the children, especially the toddler, whom they accused of crying excessively during the ordeal.
In a more recent communication, the kidnappers adjusted their demand to ₦25 million.
“They have reduced the ransom from ₦300 million to ₦25 million,” Yunusa said. “We are still negotiating. I spoke to two of the children yesterday (Sunday), and they told me they are well. May God ease our pains.”
The children have now been in captivity for nearly a week, with their father making every effort to maintain communication with the captors while seeking a peaceful resolution.
