Kelsey Glover, a 35-year-old mother from Florida, is facing first-degree murder charges following the tragic death of her 14-year-old daughter, Giselle Glover.
The incident allegedly involved Kelsey forcibly drowning her daughter by holding her head underwater. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has also charged Kelsey with battery in connection to a violent altercation with her roommate during the same incident.
According to reports from WESH, Kelsey’s initial charge was for an alleged assault against her roommate. However, following further investigation, authorities elevated the charge to first-degree murder after confirming the details surrounding Giselle’s death. The medical examiner’s office has determined the cause of death as drowning and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a distress call at a home in Osceola County on Wednesday, November 20. Upon arrival, deputies found Kelsey holding a hammer, which they had to forcibly remove from her grasp. Her roommate claimed she tried to intervene and rescue Giselle from her mother, which led to Kelsey attacking her with the hammer.
They alleged that Kelsey had ceased administering insulin to her diabetic daughter, causing the teenager’s health to deteriorate. Giselle was reportedly vomiting, unable to eat, and feeling increasingly weak in the days leading up to the fatal event. On the day of the incident, Kelsey allegedly placed her daughter in a bathtub, grabbed her by the hair, and held her head underwater, resulting in her death. The violent attack on the roommate occurred during her attempt to intervene and save Giselle.
“This case is heartbreaking,” Sheriff Marcos Lopez stated during a press conference. “What happened to Giselle is unimaginable, and we are committed to securing justice for her.” Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and active as they work to piece together the full circumstances of the incident.
Reports suggest that Giselle showed clear signs of physical and emotional distress in the days preceding the tragedy, further compounding the severity of the accusations against her mother.
Kelsey Glover remains in custody and is expected to remain behind bars until her next court appearance on December 4.
