The Nigerian Army has launched a thorough investigation into allegations of misconduct against Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq, the former commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano.
General Sadiq was relieved of his duties due to accusations of withholding benefits from his subordinates and misappropriating funds during his tenure.
A military source revealed that General Sadiq remains in custody as the investigation continues. “Brigade matters are strictly handled by the Army Headquarters, not Defence Headquarters,” the source clarified.
“The general was removed following allegations by soldiers that he withheld entitlements meant for them, among other issues. He was invited for questioning and remains in custody.”
Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the investigation into “administrative discrepancies” during General Sadiq’s command. “The Nigerian Army has zero tolerance for indiscipline and will not condone misconduct or actions undermining its values and principles.”
General Nwachukwu assured that the allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action will be taken if General Sadiq is found guilty. “The process will be fair, impartial, and follow established procedures,” he stated.
