The Nigerian government has paid tribute to Abibat Mogaji, President Bola Tinubu’s late mother, by naming the ICT block at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development in Abuja after her.
At the unveiling ceremony, Minister of Women Affairs Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, described Mogaji as a resilient matriarch and champion of women’s empowerment.
“We are gathered here to celebrate and honour the remarkable values of gender inclusion, women empowerment, and humanitarian services rendered by a resilient matriarch, mother, and amazon, the Late Chief Alhaja Abibat Mogaji,” she said.
The minister emphasized that the naming of the ICT block is a symbol of the government’s pledge to strive harder for women’s rights and honor their contributions to the country.
“As we unveil the new name of the ICT block, let it be a symbol of our pledge to strive harder for the rights of women, to honour their contributions to our country,” she stated. “To build a society where every woman and child can fulfil their potential with dignity and pride.”
