A recent counter-terrorism operation conducted by troops of the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Brigade in Sokoto State has resulted in the killing of six Lakurawa terrorists.
The operation, which took place in the Gudu Local Government Area, was a coordinated effort aimed at cutting off the activities of the terrorist group.
According to Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, the operation was successful, but not without its costs.
“The troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one box of 12.7mm ammunition,” he stated. However, he also noted that five soldiers lost their lives during the intense firefight.
“Public cooperation is crucial for protecting lives and maintaining peace in our communities,” he urged. He also called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to terrorism or security threats in the Gudu LGA and surrounding areas to security agencies.
