Afeez Adegbala, a driver attached to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has been arrested for allegedly diverting 10,000 liters of petrol belonging to the company.
Adegbala was arrested on Friday, along with his two motor boys, by personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun Command.
According to NSCDC State Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, Adegbala loaded 40,000 liters of petrol at Pinnacle Distribution Depot in Eleko, Lagos State, intended for delivery at NNPCL’s mega station in Osogbo. However, only 30,000 liters were delivered, and Adegbala was caught discharging the remaining 10,000 liters at Tempola Filling Station in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Commandant Sotiyo condemned the act, stating, “It is an act of sabotage and stealing against the state. They are saboteurs and anti-state.”
He emphasized that the NSCDC will apprehend and prosecute anyone involved in sabotaging the government.
Sotiyo warned stakeholders in petroleum distribution nationwide, “NSCDC is using this medium to warn all… that anyone caught sabotaging the government would be apprehended and prosecuted.” He also urged NNPCL managers and supervisors to collaborate with the NSCDC to bring saboteurs to justice.
