Chief Sunny Onuesoke, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed confidence in the ability of Nigerian engineers and technicians to revamp the country’s ailing refineries.
According to him, if given the necessary resources and support, they can complete the task within 90 days.
Onuesoke made this assertion in response to the ongoing debate about the maintenance and functionality of Nigeria’s refineries, as well as the recent fuel crisis.
He emphasized that the standard maintenance procedures for refineries, including cleaning, inspection, lubrication, testing, replacing, and repairing components, are well within the capabilities of NNPCL’s engineers and technicians.
Through his social media handle, Onuesoke stressed that the Federal Government needs to provide the necessary equipment and financial support to enable the NNPCL maintenance department to carry out the repairs.
He specifically mentioned the need to import the plan, DP unit, and crack unit.
“The engineers and technicians in the NNPCL maintenance department can fix the refineries if they are provided with the necessary equipment and resources,” Onuesoke stated.
“Instead of wasting billions of Naira on Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) without achieving any results, the government should empower our local experts to get the job done.”
Onuesoke, a former governorship aspirant, praised the expertise of Nigerian engineers and technicians, ranking them among the best in the world.
He assured that with the right support, they could successfully repair the refineries without incurring the massive expenses seen in previous years.
“Nigeria is blessed with some of the best brains in the world,” Onuesoke said. “Our engineers and technicians are capable of fixing our refineries. We just need to give them the opportunity and resources to do so.”
