Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola is reportedly relocating from his £ 8.5 million family home in Barcelona, following his split from his wife Cristina Serra after 30 years together.
The couple, who share three children, Maria, 24, Marius, 22, and 17-year-old Valentina, had been residing in the luxurious mansion, situated in the high part of Barcelona.
According to reports from Spain, Guardiola and Serra had been contemplating their decision to separate for several months.
Lorena Vazquez, a renowned Spanish journalist, revealed that the couple’s split was a mutual and carefully-considered decision, stating, “It’s been a carefully-considered decision the couple discussed over several months. They continue to have a cordial and affectionate relationship. No-one else is involved. There are no third parties. We are going to carry on seeing them together.”
Guardiola purchased the £8.4million mansion from a Russian businessman in February 2021.
Spanish news outlet El Confidencial described it as “the perfect place for a separation without anyone discovering when you leave or enter”. The property was previously owned by Guardiola’s former Mexican centre-back Rafa Marquez.
Despite their separation, the couple reportedly spent Christmas together at the property with their children. However, Cristina Serra is expected to remain in the family home, while Guardiola will relocate. When in Manchester, Guardiola currently resides in the Deansgate CitySuites in central Manchester.
Vazquez, who broke the news of the couple’s split, emphasized that only a handful of people were aware of their decision to separate, stating, “They weren’t expecting any journalists or media outlets would confirm this break-up but I can assure you they’re living apart…”
