President Tinubu appoints New Director-Generals for NIA, DSS

President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of new heads of two key security agencies.

Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed will lead the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) as its new Director-General, while Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi takes the helm as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to a statement released by President Tinubu’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been appointed as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

With a distinguished career in foreign service, Ambassador Mohammed has served in various roles since joining the NIA in 1995, including promotions to Director and head of the Nigerian mission to Libya.

A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, he has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House, Abuja.

The statement also announced the appointment of Adeola Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Mr. Ajayi has risen through the ranks, serving as Assistant Director-General and State Director in various states, including Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.

Following the resignation of the previous heads of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Department of State Services (DSS), President Tinubu has announced new appointments to lead the agencies.

He expects the new appointees to work diligently to reinvigorate the agencies and deliver improved results.

The President has also tasked them to leverage their expertise and experience to address the country’s pressing security challenges through enhanced collaboration with other security agencies and in close alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General of the NIA and DSS for their dedicated service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
