Saudi authorities have arrested four Nigerian nationals with 39 kilograms of cocaine in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The General Directorate of Narcotics Control caught the suspects while they were distributing the drugs from their hideouts, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Recently, Border Guard patrols in Jazan intercepted a massive 270 kilograms of qat in Al-Aridah and 126 kilograms in Al-Dayer.
They also apprehended a citizen in Al-Dayer with qat in his vehicle. Furthermore, the directorate arrested a Pakistani in the Eastern Province for selling methamphetamine, also known as shabu.
The authorities have completed preliminary legal procedures and handed over all seized items to the relevant authorities.
Security authorities are now urging the public to come forward with any information about drug smuggling or selling.
This incident has since caused different reactions.
One commenter remarked, “Nigeria’s population just reduced by 4…consider these ones dead. How will you be selling drugs in Saudi Arabia? Na to die by beheading dey hungry dem or what? Anyway RIP in advance”.
Others have called for justice to be tempered with mercy, acknowledging that the suspects were likely driven by financial desperation.
