A vehicle carrying three adults became airborne and landed on the roof of a house in South Nampa, Idaho, on Sunday morning, leaving one person dead and two others hospitalized.
This happened at approximately 9:12 a.m. on East Amity Avenue, prompting an immediate response from emergency units. The Nampa Police Department, in a press release, confirmed the car’s unusual and catastrophic trajectory, stating that it first struck a chimney before coming to rest on the roof of a neighboring home.
Initial investigations suggest that the vehicle was traveling westward at an excessively high speed along East Amity Avenue when it failed to negotiate a curve near South Diamond Street. Losing control, the car struck a berm in a private yard, which launched it into the air. The airborne vehicle then collided with the chimney of one house before crash-landing on the roof of a second property.
The front-seat passenger, a man whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and the rear-seat passenger sustained injuries and were transported by paramedics to nearby hospitals in the Boise area for medical treatment. Their conditions remain undisclosed.
Fortunately, neither of the homes involved in the incident was occupied at the time. However, both houses sustained significant structural damage.
“We are grateful that no one was inside the homes when the accident occurred, but the extent of the damage to these properties is substantial,” police officials stated.
In addition to the property damage, the impact of the crash also caused disruptions to local infrastructure. Police reported damage to nearby power lines, resulting in temporary outages for several homes in the vicinity.
As authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, they have confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
