Edo Election: Police Arrest Thugs, Recover Locally Fabricated Guns

The Nigeria Police Force has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to ensure a peaceful electoral process in Edo State, arresting two political thugs during an overnight raid across various locations.
According to a press statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Saturday, the suspects were apprehended based on a tip-off.
ACP Adejobi revealed that the suspects, Edwin Obanor (43 years old) and Audu Tajudeen (41 years old), a member of the Peoples Democratic Party from Ugbogbo quarters, Igara Akoko, Edo, were taken into custody.
Obanor, identified as a leader of an armed group, was arrested at Oredo Ward 4 around 9 pm, while Tajudeen was apprehended at Igara Akoko, Edo, on the eve of the election.
During a search of their belongings, police operatives recovered three cut-to-size locally fabricated pistols from Obanor and one locally made gun from Tajudeen
ACP Adejobi emphasized that the arrests demonstrate the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring a peaceful electoral process during the governorship election in Edo State.
“The police and other supporting security agencies will not tolerate any form of violence or disorderliness during the election,” he assured.
The suspects are currently being held in police custody and will face the full weight of the law.
ACP Adejobi reassured citizens of the police’s dedication to protecting lives and property, urging them to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through published helplines.
