Osun State Governor Announces Implementation of New Minimum Wage

On Saturday, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, revealed that his administration has commenced work on implementing the new minimum wage for government workers in the state.
Speaking at the grand finale of the 14th convocation of Osun State University, held at the institution’s main campus in Osogbo, Adeleke emphasized that his administration has been supporting various initiatives aimed at enhancing the growth of the university.
The governor acknowledged that the removal of fuel subsidies had imposed significant challenges on workers, assuring them that his administration would spare no effort in mitigating its impact on government employees.
Adeleke highlighted his administration’s achievements in supporting the university, stating that they had completed an office complex at the Isale-Osun campus to meet the university’s requirements for health-related program accreditations.
Additionally, Adeleke mentioned that his administration had supported the university’s construction of an ultra-modern Anatomy Complex, which was commissioned earlier that day.
He also prioritized the construction of roads leading to the student area at Sasha Market and other university campuses.
Furthermore, Adeleke noted that his administration had paid a year’s arrears promptly to staff members and had also paid palliative allowances to all workers.
Regarding the new minimum wage, Adeleke stated, “We are currently working on the modalities for its implementation, ensuring that our workers receive the compensation they deserve.”
Addressing staff and students, Adeleke urged them to remain steadfast in their responsibilities and to continue serving the country with dedication.
“The progress of this citadel of learning can only be sustained through a peaceful and harmonious environment,” he said.
Adeleke also advised parents and guardians not to completely let go of their children as they step into the next phase of their lives.
Earlier in his speech, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Clement Adebooye, noted that the institution had been recording steady growth and commended all stakeholders for their commitment to the progress of the institution.
Adebooye congratulated the graduating students, declaring that they had been prepared to serve the country and global economy as public servants, technocrats, and entrepreneurs.
“We are proud of the accomplishments of our graduating students,” Adebooye said. “They have demonstrated exceptional academic prowess and are well-equipped to make meaningful contributions to society.”
