Delta State Police Command has successfully neutralized three suspected kidnappers and armed robbers in Agbarho Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The operation, led by Divisional Police Officer CSP Iwok Ndifereke, resulted in the recovery of four AK-47 rifles from the hoodlums.
According to SP Bright Edafe, the Police spokesperson, the suspects were responsible for the murder of two mobile policemen and a driver during a failed kidnap attempt on September 2, 2024, at Okoloba Junction, Uvwie Local Government Area.
Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda ordered immediate action, leading to a strategic deployment around Warri and its environment.
Edafe explained that the police created an artificial hold-up at the DSC roundabout, prompting the hoodlums to open fire. The police responded professionally, and the hoodlums abandoned their vehicle, escaping with bullet injuries. Three AK-47 rifles and their operational vehicle were recovered.
Further investigation led the police to the suspects’ hideout in Agbarho, where a fierce gun duel ensued.
Three suspects sustained serious gunshot injuries and were confirmed dead at the hospital, while another AK-47 rifle was recovered.
The police are currently intensifying their manhunt for the remaining gang members.
