Speaking at the launch of the Nigeria Development Update in Abuja, Mohammed stressed the urgent need for change due to growing hardship.
“The macroeconomic policies causing inflation need to be reconsidered. There is hunger, people are suffering, and Nigerians are not benefiting from these reforms,” Mohammed said.
He emphasized the plight of ordinary Nigerians, warning that hunger and economic hardship have created a volatile situation.
Even high-ranking officials, including himself, face threats from frustrated citizens, Mohammed revealed.
“We are on the brink of being lynched,” he said, emphasizing the need for effective economic policies to address widespread hunger.
The governor questioned the government’s approach, saying, “What are you doing to reduce hunger? We must help the people cope.” He also criticized the high electricity tariffs, making it unaffordable for people to pay.
He urged the government to reconsider its policies, saying, “Let’s not resort to blackmail. These policies are not working; we must review them.”
