Elizabeth Holmes sentenced to 11 years and 4 months in prison.

Theranos founder and alleged fraudster has been given a sentence of more than 11 years in prison. This decision took place in court after a long back and forth legal battle in which she was sued by various Theranos investors.

Elizabeth was charged 4 counts of criminal fraud, the jury found her guilty of defrauding investors and Theranos, the blood testing company she founded. A probation officer who worked up a report recommended 9 years in prison while the U.S government recommended 15 years in prison for Elizabeth Holmes for which she hoped she might be given just 18 months.

The defense for Holmes which submitted more than 140 letters and personal pictures to the judge depicts Holmes as an upstanding everyday citizen which you can relate with. The judge issued a surrender date of April 27th 2023 which means she will start her prison time from that date.
