A commercial motorcyclist, Kazeem, was paraded by the Oyo State Police Command for raping a female passenger.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, the incident occurred on October 17 at 10:15 p.m. when the victim, who had just arrived from Lagos, boarded Kazeem’s bike at Olorunsogo area to be taken to Adeshina area.
During the ride, Kazeem diverted to an unfamiliar route, claiming he needed to pick up something from his wife’s shop.
He eventually took the victim to Ogbere area, where his wife’s shop was located, and forcibly had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.
Kazeem admitted to having a sexual relationship with the victim but claimed it was consensual.
He recounted the events leading up to the incident, saying, “That night, I was on the expressway, waiting to pick passengers when the lady approached me and said that she just arrived Ibadan from Lagos, but didn’t know the place she was going.”
He further stated, “As she sat on the bike, she told me that she was hungry. I gave her money to go and buy food. Thereafter, she told me to help her get a place where she could stay overnight because it was already late and she might not be able to recognize the place she was going easily.”
Kazeem took the victim to his wife’s shop and slept with her, later claiming that his wife was silent and crying when she learned of the incident.
The medical report revealed bruises around the victim’s private parts, and the police recovered a female underwear, a multi-color boxer, and a red pair of trousers as exhibits.
