A truck accident occurred in Lagos, resulting in the loss of at least three lives.
This happened when a truck, descending from Ita-Opo, suffered a catastrophic brake failure, losing control and crashing into Ayetoro Market.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck’s deadly trajectory began when it struck a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before forcefully ramming into the market.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) swiftly responded to the incident, providing critical updates on its official social media handle on Monday.
In a statement, LASTMA revealed: “A fatal accident occurred due to a brake failure of a truck descending from Ita-Opo. It hit a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before ramming into the Ayetoro Market/Complex.”
The authority confirmed that three lives were tragically lost in the accident, with the bodies of the victims being transported to the morgue at Epe General Hospital for proper identification and processing.
LASTMA deployed a tow truck to evacuate the affected vehicles, ensuring the clearance of the accident scene and facilitating smooth vehicular movement.
