Bandits Kill Seven Farmers, Burn 50 Bags of Maize in Niger State

 

Suspected bandits brutally killed seven farmers, including a local vigilante, and set ablaze a truck loaded with 50 bags of maize in Bangi, Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.

 

The incident was reported on Saturday, November 23.

According to sources, the victims had gone to their farm to retrieve harvested maize and were ambushed by the assailants as they prepared to return home.

“The attackers waited until the farmers had loaded the truck with 50 bags of maize and were about to depart,” a witness recounted. “They opened fire on the unsuspecting farmers, killing everyone onboard, and then set both the truck and its contents on fire.”

“It has been nearly impossible for farmers to safely work in their fields this season,” another source revealed, citing the frequent attacks, kidnappings, and killings that plague the area.
