Bandits Abduct Village Head, 14 Others in Kaduna’s Kauru LGA

Armed assailants abducted the village head of Ungwan Babangida, identified as Babangida Sojiji, along with 14 other individuals in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred late Thursday night.

The youth leader of Dokan Karji, Aminu Khalid, provided details of the attack. “The bandits invaded Ungwan Babangida Village under the cover of night, wielding sophisticated firearms and strategically positioning themselves to intimidate residents. In the aftermath, they abducted 14 people, including the village head, three women, and nine men,” Khalid revealed.

Khalid also disclosed that two of the victims were laborers from Jigawa State and Ikara Local Government Area, who had come to Ungwan Babangida for agricultural work.

Khalid expressed frustration and called for immediate intervention. “Our communities are under siege. Bandits have occupied many villages, killing breadwinners and creating a dire situation for families. We need urgent and decisive military action to end this reign of terror,” he said.

Khalid commended the efforts of local vigilante groups, who have helped foil numerous kidnapping attempts. “Their proactive approach has been instrumental in protecting other villages from similar fates. However, their efforts alone are not enough,” he added, urging the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify their operations against the criminals.
