The Qatar 2022 world cup is never out of its many controversies and politics, especially the one where migrant workers were maltreated and overused to build the official stadium which every player plays in today.
There are also lots of countries who will play at the world cup and their respective fans will be there too, this one case is quite peculiar as a Saudi fan wearing a Saudi t-shirt was seen yelling at an Israeli reporter saying.
“This is Palestine, no Israel here”
“You are not welcome here”
“Even if this is Qatar, this is our country”
“You are not welcome here”
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has said that he knows that there are still occupied Arab lands, refugees who have not been able to return to their homes for over 70 years, Muslims and Christians, living under siege in Gaza.
It would be the first time, direct flights from Tel Aviv to Doha were arranged for the World cup, Doha temporary opened them to comply with Fifa’s requirements but it is not a step towards normalizing ties with Israel which means after the world cup it will be closed again.
It seems at a time like this even football can put aside all differences.
