American footballer Tyler Adams answered some questions from a journalist from Press TV in which the journalist corrected the American who has constantly pronounced the country name wrong. He then further asked Tyler of how he felt playing for a country who had constantly discriminated against black people for decades.
Tyler Adams responded by saying;
“My apology on the pronunciation of your country but with that being said, you know there is discrimination everywhere you go. One thing that I have learnt especially leaving abroad in past few years, having to live with different cultures is that in the U.S we are continuing to make progress every single day.”
“I grew up in a white family with obviously an African heritage and background as well, i had a little bit of different cultures and it was easily to assimilate with different cultures and I know not everyone has that ease or ability to do that and obviously it takes the longest to that and through education i think it is super important, like you just educated me now in the pronunciation of your country. it is a process and as long as you see progress that is the most important thing.”
