Edo Election: Appeal Court Upholds Asue Ighodalo’s Candidacy

The Abuja Court of Appeal has overturned a previous ruling by the Federal High Court, Abuja, which had instructed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to include 381 ad-hoc delegates in the primary election on February 22, 2024.
The Appeal Court has upheld Asue Ighodalo’s candidacy as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate for the September 21 election in Edo State .
This decision overturned a previous ruling by a Federal High Court that questioned the validity of the PDP’s primary election.
The Appeal Court ruled that the lower court lacked jurisdiction and the plaintiffs lacked legal standing to challenge the primary election’s outcome.
This means Ighodalo’s path to the governorship election is now clear, and he can focus on his campaign.
