Anambra State Government Shuts Down Unapproved School Over Bullying Incident

The Anambra State Government has ordered the immediate closure of Upcoming Star International School in Awka, following a reported case of bullying that left a 7-year-old pupil with a broken leg.
According to Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the state Commissioner for Education, the school’s proprietor, Uche Onyeachona, admitted to the incident during questioning.
Further investigation revealed that the school was operating without state approval.
The commissioner stated that the school’s continued operation posed a risk to children’s safety and well-being.
Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo directed the school’s closure by 2 pm, emphasizing the need to protect children from illegal schools.
Parents are advised to avoid unapproved schools, and proprietors of such schools will face legal action for violating state laws.
