Ufa Dania: The Plus-Size Beauty Queen Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges
Ufa Dania, the trailblazing plus-size contestant in The Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, has attributed her widespread popularity among Africans to her embodiment of the classic African figure.
In an interview with Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Dania revealed that many Africans, particularly South African women, see themselves in her and relate to her on a deeper level.
Dania’s journey in the pageant has been challenging, with long hours and high heels being her biggest fear.
However, she has encouraged plus-sized women to pursue their goals relentlessly, saying, “Never doubt yourself or look down on yourself… You have everything within you that you need to succeed in life.”
Despite struggling with anxiety and fear of backlash, Dania faced her challenges head-on, saying, “I’m someone who tries to do the daring.”
She has received massive support from South Africans online and is eager to visit the country, jokingly saying, “Tell South Africa to send me money, I’ll be there immediately.”
Dania also emphasized the need for unity among Africans, urging Nigerians and South Africans to recognize their shared identity and put aside past rifts.
“We are all Africans, we are all brothers and sisters… We need to heal from all the past things that have happened. We may be from different countries, but we are still one.”
