Alan Smith comments on if England can beat France

After the defeat of Senegal by England, the English team will be setting their eyes on the quarter finals against France, France who have been rather impressive throughout their matches in the World Cup will give England a bit of a challenge.

English football commentator, Sky Sports football staff and former England striker Alan Smith has weighed in on the coming encounter, Alan said that the match between England and Senegal was a joy to watch. He said Harry Kane who is England’s captain is mentally strong and his style of play will be needed against France, Harry seems to peak as the competition draws closer.

He said England’s record against top teams in the World Cup has not been great, England hasn’t beaten a top team that were higher than them since 1966 unless Argentina in 2002 when David Beckham scored a penalty, England has lost 11 times to team ranked lower than them since 1966.

France has fallen short of some of their key players like Pogba but are still incredibly strong but Alan said England will have to do more to prove themselves in this World Cup, He believes England can beat France if they stay on course.
