It was a tragic day during the Munich air disaster which happened on the 6th of February 1958, this makes it the 65th anniversary since that tragic day, 23 people including 8 players and 3 members of the club’s staff were killed as the team were travelling back from a European Cup tie against Red Star Belgrade on that faithful day.
A memorial service was held at Old Trafford to pay their respects.
In attendance, key figures of the clubs such as Erik ten Hag, Mark Skinner in which they laid a wreath in remembrance. Harry Maguire and Katie Zelem the two captains of their division of Men and Women were also in attendance.
Bayern Munich also paid their respects by posting on their official twitter page saying…
“Today, we remember those who tragically lost their lives in the 1958 Munich air disaster. Never forgotten.”
