“More information on the $6.23million meant for ‘Foreign Election Observers Mission,’ stolen from the Abuja branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has revealed that former President Mohammadu Buhari’s PA, Sabiu Yusuf aka Tunde, got a share of $1million. He is said to have made refunds,” Jackson Ude said on Friday night.
“Yusuf is one of the Government officials who allegedly forged the letter of the former President authorizing the release of the funds from the CBN. Eric Odo-Ochoeme, an aide of the former CBN Governor, is one of the accomplices in the deal. He is currently on the run.
“Abdulwaheed Mohammed who was detained in connection with the theft has refunded his own share. He confessed to the crime. He has also been released from detention after making confessional statements. Bashirdeen Mohammed Maisanu, an Assistant Director in CBN who facilitated the looting, has also refunded his share.
“The theft of the $6.23million happened on February 8, 2023 after a letter dated January 23, 2023, purportedly signed by Buhari authorizing the release of the funds,” Jackson Ude further said.
