There was a decline in computer chips during the pandemic that affected the application of its use in major electronics and vehicle manufacturing companies, spanning from the year 2019 to 2021 but that seems to be the opposite in 2022 as semiconductor companies face an oversupply as some have even considered layoffs to compensate for the large expense they’ve done this year.
This happened because there was a large demand of chips from various companies during the pandemic to satisfy the consumers who wanted them as they were already forced into a lockdown. When the pandemic slowly lifted, so did the demand reduce and now these semiconductor companies are sitting on large pile of chips with no one to buy.
The United States government have invested $39 billion into thier chips and science act bill which was passed on this summer to enable chips to be manufactured on American soil.
