…..fourteen of the eighteen Local Government chapters in the State are behind him for justice
Edo State NNPP gubernatorial aspirant, Hon. Peter Okoegbuale has dragged the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the Federal High Court in Benin City in Edo State over the recently held gubernatorial primary election of the party in Edo State.
According to the court document, the guber candidate, Mr Azemhe Azena; the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were listed as respondents.
According to Hon. Peter Okoegbuale, the plaintiff, the State Party Chairman switched nothing less than Ten Local Governments (10) delegates lists in the build up to the primary election with the ulterior motive of denying him victory at the primary election.
Hon. Peter Okoegbuale also expressed confidence that up till the time of the primary election, fourteen of the Local Governments were in support of his candidacy, a number that would have been more than enough to give him victory at the primary election if the State Party Chairman had not illegally switched eight of the delegates lists. Hon. Peter Okoegbuale further added that out of the eighteen Local Governments in Edo State, fourteen of the Local Government chapters of the party in the State are fully behind him for justice.
Hon. Peter Okoegbuale is therefore alleging infractions and asking the court to declare him the authentic Edo State NNPP gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming September 2024 Edo State Governorship election.
