Socio-political and integrity-based group, ALIGN Movement has on Thursday condemned the recently concluded Edo State Governorship election.
The leadership of the group speaking in Benin City said “the election lacks credibility, it lacks transparency and it fails the integrity test by every measure. The election cannot therefore stand the test of judicial litigation when it is brought before a court of competent jurisdiction. The evidences are clear. The facts are beyond doubt. The election is far below the standard of what a credible election can be described as. Therefore, we condemn the election in its totality and we reject the outcome as announced by INEC.
“The INEC is becoming an agent of destruction to our electoral process, thereby making a mockery of itself as an institution. INEC of recent years have made Nigeria electioneering process become a laughing stock in the international community.
“The APC is making mockery of our democracy. They are making INEC’s iRev look irrelevant in our electioneering process.
“Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. I urge all men and women of goodwill to rise up and condemn the electoral heist that INEC and APC did in Edo State last Saturday. We urge the candidates in the election to test the integrity of the judiciary on this election. The judiciary is the last hope of the common man and we are convinced that the judiciary will be bold enough to give the right judgement and restore the mandate of the people of Edo State to the rightful owner,” the ALIGN Movement further said.
