Great Britain’s gymanstics Ellie Downie has announced her retirement from the sport at only 23 years of age, when asked why she was doing so she said she wants to prioritze her mental health and happiness.
Downie is a winner of 12 major championships in her fruitful career with 2 World Bronze Championships. She put out a statement as regards her retirement.
“To say it’s been a massive decision is a massive understatement but after a really tough last few years I’ve made the decision to prioritse my mental health and happiness. Gymnastics has been my life for as long as I can remember and I am proud of everything I was fortunate enough to achieve in the sport.”
