Victor Osimhen was greeted by a sea of enthusiastic Turkish fans upon his arrival in Istanbul, following the confirmation of his loan move to Galatasaray from Napoli.
The Nigerian striker, 25, finalized the deal on Monday night, securing a one-year loan with the Turkish giants, who will cover his full salary.
Notably, the agreement includes no buy-back clause, but Napoli retains the option to extend Osimhen’s contract until 2027, with a release clause set at €75m.
After a failed transfer to Chelsea, Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray offers a fresh start, and he was warmly welcomed by the fans, who swarmed him at the stadium.
Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray follows a disappointing transfer deadline day, where he missed out on joining Chelsea and Al Ahli.
Previously, Napoli had agreed to a €70m deal with Al Ahli, plus €10m in bonuses, offering Osimhen a lucrative €40m per-season wage and a manageable release clause for a future European transfer.
However, Napoli’s last-minute request for an additional €5m led to the deal’s collapse, prompting Al Ahli to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford instead.
Meanwhile, Chelsea opted for Jason Sancho, unable to meet the substantial financial demands required to secure Osimhen’s services.
