The former international center back who plays for England’s women division has announced her retirement from professional football.
She also played for previous clubs such as West-Ham, Arsenal and later Liverpool but will retire now due to family reasons, she said.
“It isn’t a decision I have taken but one that I have reached after speaking to those closest to me. Losing my Dad just before Christmas has left me heartbroken, for 22 years we shared our love of football and playing wise. I don’t want to carry on without him by my side. Plain wise I know the right decision is for me to call it a day, the time is right for me to be by my family and to be nearest to those closest to me but it has been a trophy leading career, two double cell titles with Arsenal and two with Chelsea.”
