Udinese, the Italian Serie A club, has announced that Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has successfully undergone surgery to treat a wrist injury.
The 24-year-old sustained the injury during a recent league match against Genoa.
Renowned specialist Doctor Loris Pegoli carried out the procedure at the La Madonnina clinic in Milan.
After the surgery, Okoye will begin a rehabilitation period, during which he will be sidelined for several weeks. The timeline for his full recovery has yet to be confirmed.
Okoye has been instrumental for Udinese, having secured the position of first-choice goalkeeper during the latter half of last season. So far this season, he has made 14 league appearances, reinforcing his importance to the team.
