Monday Okpebholo has officially taken the reins as the governor of Edo State, succeeding Godwin Obaseki after his eight-year tenure.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, marking a significant milestone for the state.
Okpebholo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was sworn in alongside his running mate, Dennis Idahosa.
Philip Shaibu, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State, expressed his optimism about Okpebholo’s leadership, stating that he is “honoured to witness the swearing-in of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa as Governor and Deputy Governor of our dear State”.
Shaibu further emphasized his confidence in Okpebholo’s ability to foster transformative growth, inclusive development, and unparalleled prosperity in Edo State.
“As you take the reins of leadership, may your tenure foster transformative growth, inclusive development, and unparalleled prosperity. Edo State deserves excellence, and I am confident your administration will propel our beloved state towards greatness,” Shaibu said.
