A Mississippi mother made a suicide pact with her 10-year-old daughter. Authorities charged Brittney Leigh Hensley with allegedly making a suicide pact with her 10-year-old daughter.

On July 6, police responded to a report of a child overdosing at an Ocean Springs Studio 6 Motel, where they found the young girl unresponsive alongside empty prescription bottles and unidentified capsules.
Both Brittney and her daughter were rushed to Ocean Springs Hospital, where doctors intubated them. However, investigators soon discovered a shocking “suicide pact” between Hensley and her daughter, with both agreeing to take the pills.
Deputy Chief Steven Dye revealed that Hensley claimed to have taken a specific dosage, but hospital blood tests contradicted her story.
Physicians reported that if Hensley’s account were true, she wouldn’t have survived. Investigators believe Hensley chose not to fulfill her part of the pact. Her daughter is now in the custody of Mississippi Child Protective Services.
As the case developed, Hensley fled to Alabama, where she has family ties. Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers issued a warrant for her arrest on October 14, charging her with criminal child abuse involving the poisoning of a minor.
Hensley was arrested in Huntsville on October 15 and booked into the Jackson County Adult Detention Center in Pascagoula, Mississippi, on October 29. Her bond is set at $500,000, and she faces felony child abuse charges causing bodily harm. The case is pending a jury trial.
