Motorcycle Thief Crushed to Death in Abuja

In Gawu, Abaji Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, a suspected motorcycle thief met his death while attempting to escape a mob.

Danlami Ibrahim, a witness, recounted the events to Daily Trust: “The incident occurred on Wednesday at 4:12 pm. The suspect stole a motorcycle from Mawogi village farm, prompting the owner to raise an alarm.”

Youths from the farm chased the suspect as he fled on the motorcycle. Upon approaching Gawu village, the suspect recklessly crossed the expressway and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Ibrahim continued, “The suspect was apprehended alive but vigilantes took him from the mob to Gawu Babangida Hospital, where he died shortly after.”

A Gawu division police officer confirmed the incident anonymously: “The deceased’s relatives collected his body. The stolen motorcycle, badly damaged, and the vehicle involved are in police custody.”

The police have commenced investigations into the incident.
