Nigeria, An Attractive Destination For Investment And Trade – Taiwan

In a recent statement, Mr. James Huang, Chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, expressed his enthusiasm for the growing industrial cooperation between Nigeria and Taiwan.
He highlighted the vast improvement in Nigeria’s business environment, which has made it an attractive destination for investment and trade.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of Taiwan Technology Day in Victoria Island, Lagos, Huang emphasized the immense potential for collaboration between the two nations.
He led a delegation of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council to Nigeria, aiming to promote and boost trade relations.
“We visited the Asian Industrial Park, initiated by Taiwanese companies, and the Dangote Refinery,” Huang said. “Our goal is to explore areas where we can work together, and I’m excited to say that there’s a great potential for collaboration.”
Huang, a former Taiwan External Affairs Minister, pointed out that Taiwan’s expertise in information technology, electronics, and artificial intelligence can complement Nigeria’s strengths.
“Taiwan produces over 90% of global computer servers and data centers,” he noted. “We’re also strong in petrochemical industries, which aligns with Nigeria’s energy sector.”
The delegation’s visit aimed to identify opportunities for cooperation in various industries, including:
  • Manufacturing
  • Technology
  • Infrastructure development
  • Petrochemical industries
  • Fine chemicals
Huang expressed optimism about the future of trade between Nigeria and Taiwan.
“The trade volume is steadily growing,” he said. “We import a lot of natural resources and energy-related products from Nigeria. I see a very bright future for better cooperation between our two countries.”
When asked about the next steps, Huang replied, “We’ll return to Taiwan and encourage our business community to explore investment opportunities in Nigeria.
The Asian Industrial Park, with its vast land area, offers ample space for Taiwanese industries to invest.”
Huang emphasized the win-win potential of Nigeria-Taiwan cooperation. “We’re committed to working together to achieve mutual benefits and strengthen our trade relationship.”
