NSCDC Arrests Eight Teenagers for Alleged Gang Rape of 14-Year-Old Girl in Ogun

The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested eight teenagers for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Ijebu-Mushin, Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to Dyke Ogbonnaya, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the suspects include Matthew Omotayo, 17; Mojeeb Solomon, 16; Olamilekan Adefuye, 18; Damilola Ismail, 19; Emmanuel George, 17; Aborisade Ayomide, 17; Paul Chukwuchebe, 19; and Lateef Adeoye, 16.
They claimed to be students of St. Anthony Grammar School, Esure, Ijebu-Mushin.
Ogbonnaya stated that the suspects took the victim to a secluded room, where they allegedly gang-raped her. Furthermore, they recorded the incident and used it to blackmail the victim, threatening to upload the video on social media if she didn’t allow them to have sex with her again.
The victim reported the incident to the NSCDC Divisional Office at Ijebu-Mushin after she was allegedly beaten and verbally assaulted by the suspects. Her statement led to the arrest of the teenagers, and she was made to undergo a medical examination.
Following a preliminary investigation, the command sought a remand order, which was granted by a magistrate court sitting in Ijebu. The court ordered a 60-day remand of the eight suspects, pending the outcome of the advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The matter was adjourned to January 20, 2025.
Reacting to the incident, the Ogun NSCDC Commandant, Remilekun Ekundayo, emphasized that the command would not tolerate abuse of minors. “Commandant Ekundayo has noted that the Corps will not tolerate any act of abuse on the girl child nor a minor either by teenagers, caregivers, guardians, and/or parents,” she stated.
