The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced that Port Harcourt Refinery Company (PHRC) products are currently reserved solely for its retail outlets. This clarification was provided by the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, during a statement issued on Wednesday, November 27.
Soneye emphasized that the refinery has not yet commenced bulk sales of its products, and the portal for product purchases remains inactive as the company finalizes necessary processes.
He further elaborated on NNPCL’s ongoing marketing strategy, highlighting its reliance on products sourced from the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals, which include the applicable fees set by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
“We have not yet commenced bulk sales, and the purchase portal has not been opened because we are still in the process of finalizing the necessary arrangements,” Soneye stated. “Currently, the products available at our outlets are those procured from the Dangote Refinery, inclusive of NMDPRA fees. As for the output from the Port Harcourt Refinery, it is strictly reserved for our retail stores.”
Soneye also addressed the company’s pricing policy, explaining that adjustments are made regularly to reflect market realities and regulatory guidelines. “Our pricing framework is under constant review and is updated as needed to align with current market conditions,” he added.
For now, NNPCL retail outlets remain the exclusive point of access for products from the Port Harcourt Refinery.
