Rivers State Commissioner for Environment, Tambari Sydney Gbara, has expressed his unwavering support for Governor Siminialayi Fubara, stating that he will complete his two terms in office and produce a successor in 2031.
Gbara, who previously served as the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, made this declaration amidst the growing political tension between Governor Fubara and the camp of his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
In a Facebook post, Gbara likened the situation to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, emphasizing that Governor Fubara’s enemies underestimated his strength and resilience.
“They mistook your humility for weakness, thinking they could kick you out of office in three weeks, just as Russia thought of Ukraine,” Gbara said, addressing the Governor.
Gbara spoke about Governor Fubara’s commitment to peace and protection of the state’s interest as his greatest strength.
“Your demeanor and disposition for peace, despite their provocative antics, is a rare leadership virtue,” he noted. Gbara also condemned the recent destruction of public properties and violence in the state, attributing it to the frustration of Governor Fubara’s opponents.
Gbara concluded by reaffirming his support for the Governor, stating, “No man can play God. You will complete your 8 years tenure with ease and produce a successor in 2031.”
He also declared that the SIMplified Movement in Khana LGA and the state at large are solidly behind Governor Fubara.
