A 25-year-old undergraduate, Koya Ayodeji, allegedly stabbed his roommate, Ayobami Ajayi, 21, in the lower abdomen during a heated argument over noise disturbance at the Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.
According to reports, the altercation took place on January 21, when Koya cautioned Ayobami to reduce the noise level in their room, but he refused. This led to a heated exchange, and in the heat of the moment, Koya stabbed Ayobami in the stomach.
In his statement to the police, Koya claimed that he had warned Ayobami about the noise, but he didn’t comply, leading to a violent confrontation. However, police investigations suggest that Koya may have been under the influence of hard drugs at the time of the incident.
Following the stabbing, Ayobami was rushed to the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu, where he underwent surgery and is currently in stable condition. Koya, on the other hand, was arrested, and a medical examiner was called in to conduct a toxicology screening.
The suspect will face charges in court once the investigation is complete.
