Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum has revealed that certain individuals are benefiting from the Boko Haram insurgency and are, therefore, not interested in seeing it come to an end.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Zulum expressed his frustration, stating,
“There are people who don’t want this insecurity to end because they will not be happy with that.”
According to Zulum, these individuals, who are profiting from the insurgency in the Northeast region and Chad, are sabotaging the efforts to combat the menace.
Despite the success recorded in the fight against Boko Haram, the governor lamented that the insurgents are now returning to the region after being forced out of Chad.
Zulum emphasized the need for unity and support for security operatives to tackle the Boko Haram menace.
However, he refrained from naming those who are benefiting from the insecurity in the region.
