France striker Karim Benzema will not be attending the World Cup in Doha as planned because He picked up an injury during a training session at France’s training camp. The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner has missed four of Real Madrid’s last 5 games because of a knee injury and was taking part of the training with his France squad when he had a problem with his thigh.
Benzema was later sent to the medical team for a scan and it has been confirmed that He will no longer be able to join his fellow teammates in the competition. He would be the second Ballon d’Or winner to miss out of a World Cup since Kevin Keegan in 1978.
