An unidentified 25-year-old man drowned in a well at an uncompleted building in Kano State’s Kumbotso Local Government Area.
The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the tragic event.
According to Saminu Abdullahi, spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, the decomposed body was retrieved on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
Abdullahi provided details of the incident in a statement:
“On Saturday, November 2, 2024, at approximately 16:15 hours, our central control room received an emergency call from the DPO of Kwalli Police Division. The control room reported a lifeless body sighted in a well at an uncompleted building located at Kadama Bakin Titi in Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano.”
Upon arrival at the scene (16:40 hours), the rescue team observed dried blood stains surrounding the well. Peering into the well revealed the decomposing body of a young man.
“The body was swollen, indicating he had been in the well for approximately four days,” local residents speculated. The victim’s identity remains unknown, as he was unfamiliar to area residents.
The rescue team carefully removed the lifeless body from the well and handed it over to ASP Sani Abdulhamid, DCO2 of Kumbotso Police Division.
